How to configure Night time, TO-LDG and PF/PM?

CrewLounge PILOTLOG offers several enhanced automatic functions for autoloading flight record properties.  You can enable or disable these functions from the Settings - Flight Logging page.

This solution article explains how these autoload functions work, how they interact with each other, and how they interact with the Airline Interface.

Notice that these functions must be activated prior to saving the flight record.  

PILOTLOG calculates night time along your flight route, taking into account time of departure, aircraft airspeed and the time of year. When this checkbox is selected, calculated night time is loaded in the Night Time data field.

In the event night time is provided through your airline roster (e.g. EFB voyage report), night time from your roster overrules calculated night time.  

Night time from the airline roster is always saved to your flight record, regardless of the "Automatic Night Time calculation" checkbox selection.

PILOTLOG can autoload the Task PF/PM box for you.  When the checkbox is selected, Task is set according to your preferences.  You can choose from several built-in logics.  Notice that for single-pilot aircraft, autoload will always insert PF.

In the event task data is provided through your airline roster, task data from your roster overrules the autoload function from PILOTLOG.  

Task data from the airline roster is always saved to your flight record, regardless of the "Auto load Task" checkbox selection. 

PILOTLOG can autoload value "1" in the Takeoff and Landing data fields.  Takeoff-Landing autoload is inherent to Automatic Night Time calculation.  PILOTLOG cannot autoload TO-LDG when Night Time calculation is turned Off, because it needs to know if the Takeoff was Day or Night, same for the Landing.

When Automatic Night Time calculation is turned On, Takeoff-Landing autoload is default also active.  You can disable TO-LDG autoload by ticking the "Do not suggest TO-LDg Day-Night" checkbox.

In the event Takeoff or Landing data is provided through your airline roster (e.g. EFB voyage report), values from your roster overrule values calculated by PILOTLOG.   

Takeoff - Landing values from the airline roster are always saved to your flight record, regardless of the "Do not suggest TO-Ldg Day-Night" checkbox selection.

The default logic for PILOTLOG is to autoload TO-LDG only when PF is logged.  Takeoff and Landing data fields would remain empty when the flight is recorded with Task PM.

You can inhibit that logic and break the link between TO-LDG and Task PF/PM by ticking the "Do not link TO-Ldg with Task PF/PM" checkbox.  When this checkbox is ticked, and TO-LDG autoload is active, Takeoff and Landing are autoloaded on every flight, regardless of PF or PM.

In the event Takeoff or Landing data is provided through your airline roster (e.g. EFB voyage report), values from your roster overrule this checkbox and actual values from the roster are loaded in the Takeoff-Landing data field. 

Sample 1

Say, your EFB Voyage Report mentions who was PF, but it does not provide night time, nor Takeoff-Landing values.

Night Time

If you have "Automatic Night Time calculation" turned On, then PILOTLOG will calculate night time for this flight.

Task PF/PM

PILOTLOG grabs PF/PM data from the EFB report, regardless of the checkbox selection "Auto load Task"

Takeoff-Landing

If you have "Automatic Night Time calculation" turned On, then PILOTLOG will calculate Takeoff Day/Night and Landing Day/Night.  These values are saved to the flight record, given you were PF on that flight.  

Autoload does not work in case you select the "Do not suggest TO/Ldg Day/Night" checkbox.

If you were PM on this flight, all 4 data fields remain empty (value 0), unless you break the link with Task by selecting the "Do not link TO-Ldg with Task PF/PM" checkbox.  With this checkbox ticked, Takeoff and Landing are logged on all flights, regardless you were PF or PM.

Sample 2

Say, your Historical Roster does not mention task and does not provide night time, or Takeoff-Landing values.

Night Time

If you have "Automatic Night Time calculation" turned On, then PILOTLOG will calculate night time for this flight.

Task PF/PM

If you have "Auto load Task" turned On, then PILOTLOG will set PF or PM for this flight, as per your selection.

Takeoff-Landing

Same as Sample 1
